Today early morning, when residents of Prateek Wisteria, a residential complex in Sector 77, Noida, woke up, they were in for a rude shock.

The overhead water tank of the society's K wing had overflowed and flooded the staircase and the lift. The whole episode began at 6 am.

The tank overflowed, as the sensor that indicates the water level in the tank wasn't working. With the plumber unresponsive for a long time, the water overflowed for about three straight hours.

The lifts of the building had to be stopped, causing great inconvenience to residents and maids who came in early to work.

Nisha Rai, a resident, said, “The sound of water was so loud that we thought a water pipeline had burst. But later, the maintenance staff found out that the tank had overflown, as the sensor had stopped working.”

She added, "We are paying huge sums as maintenance charges, but the quality of services offered is really poor. The maintenance staff took hours to respond to the problem, and the water kept flowing till 9 am. We had to go through a great deal of inconvenience."

When City Spidey spoke to Jagjeet Singh, AOA president, he said, “The maintenance office of the builder has been informed to replace the damaged sensor.”

Yudhvir Singh, another resident of the society, complained, “Such problems keep cropping up in the society. The developers haven’t even installed the water pipelines properly. They have already developed cracks at the joints — some seem to just hang from the building walls. These should be properly fixed to the walls. Also, the joints of the pipelines should be tightened properly, so they don't crack.”
