Gurgaon, Sector 46: There are eyes everywhere. Beware!

Residents of Sector 46, one of the largest HUDA sectors, can now breathe easy. The RWA has installed 16 cameras at its six main gates.

The area houses around 5,000 families. Of its six gates, four are kept closed during the night, while two remain open.

"The two main gates of the sector have three cameras each — one is a number plate reader (NPR) while the other two are pan-tilt-zoom cameras. Even if there’s no guard at the gate, the number plates would automatically be captured on the cameras,” explained Raj Kumar Yadav, RWA president.

Yadav further added, “The well-being of our residents is a prime concern, and we keep taking such initiatives. These small steps can go a long way in providing safety to our residents.”

The RWA has access to month-old recordings of these cameras.

Security cameras at Gate 1

Speaking to City Spidey, Uma Rani, a resident, said, “We’ve heard of cameras only in high-rise apartments. I am really glad to see our sector, too, getting the same kind of security cover.”

Karam Vir, another resident, said, “There have been reports of tyre and cycle thefts from in and around the place. I hope we are safe now.”

Apart from these 16 cameras, the RWA plans to install three more — one each at Adarsh Park, library and the community centre. It wants to have surveillance over all the major points of the sector.

The RWA has spent about Rs 10 lakh on these hi-tech cameras, which are connected with fibre cables to support future plans of more cameras in the interiors of the sector.
