Medical students in Gurgaon, rejoice! Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar plants a sapling at the Harit Gurugram-Ek Prayas 2017 event today

There’s good news for budding medical students in Gurgaon. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced the construction of a medical college named after Mata Sheetla Devi in the city.

Students can rejoice, as they will not have to travel to Delhi or other city to get a medical degree once this college comes up.

The announcement was made at the Harit Gurugram-Ek Prayas 2017 programme organised by Jalvayu Sanrakshan Samiti.

The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board have been entrusted with the task of the construction.

Khattar said a suitable place would soon be identified for the proposed college. While MCG and GMDA will bear 40 per cent each of the total cost of construction, the remaining 20 per cent will be borne by Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board.

The event also saw CM Khattar plant saplings in Saraswati Kunj in Sector 53 to kick off the drive by Jalvayu Sanrakshan Samiti to plant 10 lakh saplings in the city. He also laid the foundation stone of six development projects, collectively costing about Rs 15 crore.

He talked about schemes started by the state government, such as Har Ghar Hariyali and Har Gaon Ped Ki Chhaon, and urged citizens to plant saplings in schools, along roads, on agricultural fields, in forests, parks and any other vacant space they found available.
