The open-air gym at the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) park in Sector 7 is a picture of neglect.
The machines are rusty, and one of them is completely broken and left near the toilet of the park. AK Parashar, a resident of Sri Agrasen Apartments, Sector 7, said, “This gym was inaugurated before the corporation elections. It’s only a few months old, but look at the lack of maintenance! It’s a shame, really!”

Two machines, residents claimed, have already been damaged, owing to lack of maintenance by the corporation. Though the matter was taken up with SDMC officials, nothing came of it.
General secretary of Senior Citizens Association and a resident of Harsukh Apartments of Sector 6, Ravi Jaitely, said, “Two machines have already been damaged — it happened some 15-20 days back. We asked the officials to repair the equipment but were told that the work could start only after the rains stopped. I don’t understand this delay — if the gym is meant for the community, it must be maintained properly. The machines should be fixed soon.”
