Noida: It is time that Gautam Budh Nagar got its own municipal corporation!

Though the Industrial Development Act of 1976 states that every city should have its own municipal corporation; Noida is still without a municipal corporation. BN Singh, the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar has written a letter to Suresh Khanna, minister of urban development, state of UP recently in this regard.

Speaking to City Spidey, BN Singh said that Noida needs a municipal corporation just like the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation. “It should also function in the same way like NDMC, which is much acknowledged and praised by other regions of the nation,” he added.

“We want the Noida Municipal Corporation to handle essential functions like sanitation, fogging, horticulture etc. These municipal functions are now handled by the Noida Authority. However, in my view, the authority should be able to concentrate only on development work,” Singh elaborates.

NP Singh, President of the Federation of RWAs of Noida informed City Spidey that municipal corporation formation has been a long standing demand. “Noida Authority is not doing its work well owing to the current work load. Therefore it is high time that it is freed from municipal functions,” he added.

Singh also highlighted the lack of measures in terms of solid waste management, owing to which garbage is strewn on the roads of the city.
