Today the district administration of GB Nagar has announced that private school managements have to follow stringent measures pertaining to the safety and security of children.  All schools have to comply with the safety guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education.  

A meeting of  school principals and district administration representatives was held today at the district magistrate's office in Surajpur.

B N Singh, District Magistrate, has allotted a two week time frame for the school managements to adopt the new safety guidelines.

In his words, “By end of this month, the school administrations have to adhere to the prescribed guidelines. They should submit forms with details of each individual teaching and non-teaching staffs with the district police. These details have to be properly verified. The police have to be alerted after completing the staff verifications within the given time.”

Singh informed that the district administration might also cross examine the new safety precautions that schools are now going to take. In case, a school violates the safety guidelines, the administration will initiate action against its management.

Singh further stated that the District Administration is planning to appoint vigilance, medical and safety officers who shall inspect things like the remote surveillance system and firefighting equipment in all private schools of the district.

Besides this, an awareness camp shall  be organised by the department of fire services to sensitise school children and schools staff. The department of regional transport will also conduct training for drives of school buses.
