Owners of high-rise apartments believe that a RERA office in Noida or Ghaziabad will ensure prompt and effective redressal of infrastructural issues and real estate problems.
In a letter addressed to the Minister of Urban Development and Planning for UP, a consortium of Ghaziabad’s apartment owner associations have stated that a local office of RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Authority) should be established either at Noida or Ghaziabad.
Explaining the need, the letter says that most problems, which buyers face today are somewhere related to local development authorities who more often than not fail to resolve the problems. Therefore, the letter stated that having a local presence of RERA shall translate to prompt redressal.
The apartment owners have also mentioned in the letter that while Noida and Ghaziabad have the highest concentrations of high-rise societies in UP, these societies are fraught with infrastructural challenges. A slew of real estate problems too exist.
The letter has been sent under the aegis of Federation of Association of Apartment Owners (FedAOA), an apex body of high-rise societies in Ghaziabad.
Speaking to City Spidey, homebuyers said that RERA’s presence in Lucknow is not really beneficial for them. “Given the geographical distance, the officials cannot effectively gauge on ground situations. In fact given our busy lives, contacting them is not feasible at all times.”
“Homebuyers had many expectations from the Real Estate Regulatory Act in the initial days of its inception. However, today the faith is clearly dwindling. The government too is not taking any measures to ensure that RERA is serving its purpose,” said Alok Kumar president of FedAOA.
“An independent and dedicated local office is the need of the hour. Officials from the local office can be easily contacted by all the flat buyers. Moreover, it can concentrate on local issues much more effectively,” Kumar added.
