Area councillor Mahesh Dayma filed an RTI to know why the authorities have not responded to the desperate pleas of the residents.
Residents of Sector 56 can barely move on the pavement. The reason? Encroachment by potters, who not only sell their wares, but have also made the pavement their homes.
And this has been the situation for years now.
Rail Vihar, Jalvayu Vihar and few other societies have been facing the brunt of this encroachment.
“Traffic jams are common on this stretch. It’s also a health hazard now. These settlers resort to open defecation on empty plots,” complained Air Commodore Tilak Bhola, also president Jalvayu Towers in Sector 56.
All attempts by RWAs of the area to improve the situation have failed.
Recently, area councillor Mahesh Dayma filed an RTI on the matter to know why the authorities have not responded to the desperate calls of the residents.
He added, “We sent two reminders recently to the authorities on the matter, but there has been no impact. These squatters often drink late into the night, creating ruckus. It gets unsafe for the residents.”
