The first tender had been floated on October 5. However, only one company had applied. Therefore, in a bid to make the selection process more competitive the authorities have decided to float a second tender soon.
Noida Authority is going to float a tender to select an agency for treating the construction waste of the city. In terms of solid waste treatment, fifteen agencies made presentations on October 7 and the authorities are now on the verge of finalising a couple of agencies among them.
RK Mishra, Additional CEO of Noida Authority told City Spidey that the process of identifying and finalising an agency to treat construction waste is relatively tougher. “We floated a tender and invited applications from October 5. However, till now only one company has applied. We are looking for atleast two more applications and hence shall float the tender again,” Mishra said.
So what are the parameters for selecting an agency for waste treatment? “Ideally it should be an agency that can leverage the latest technology and share the revenue generated from recycled waste. In terms of solid waste management, we shall soon complete all the selection formalities and announce the name of the agencies,” Mishra added.
For treating both solid waste and construction waste of the city, the Noida Authority is developing a small waste treatment plant in Sector 123.
“The landfill site in Greater Noida’s Astoli region is not ready to treat solid waste from Noida and Greater Noida. Therefore, we are working to develop a small waste treatment facility in Sector 123,” Mishra said.
