In a bid to prepare a plan for managing the city’s traffic better, top officials of Ghaziabad assembled at a meeting today. Several proposals from various departments were compiled as a consequence of this meeting.

According to sources, the Noida and Ghaziabad administrations are now focusing on traffic improvement, as directed by the three-member ministerial committee formed by the Yogi Adityanath-led government.

Proposals and suggestions were submitted by the Ghaziabad Development Authority, Road Transport  Office, Public Works Department, the district administration, the traffic department, the municipal corporation and Civil Defense.

While the road transport department prepared a list of black spots comprising intersections and roads in the city that needed improvement, the Ghaziabad municipal corporation and traffic department made a list of traffic signals that needed repairs. They also identified areas for installation of fresh signals. While traffic signals in 14 spots needed repairs, about 23 signals are to be installed across the city. A proposal for this has already been made.

CM Meena, deputy controller of Civil Defence, told City Spidey that a proposal has been made to involve the civil defence wardens in traffic management. However, she maintained that the wardens were already employed in various places and would require remuneration for dedicating their time to this initiative.
