Parents from several states join hands over fee issue

In a meeting held in Delhi, parents from several states joined hands yesterday to protest against the arbitrariness of private schools' hike in fees. Parents from Ghaziabad who had participated in the meeting told City Spidey that they had found that the problem existed in not only Uttar Pradesh but in other states too, where the state governments had failed to check the high-handedness of private schools.

“We found out that just like us, parents from several states had filed cases in their high courts. We have decided to approach the Supreme Court with a joint appeal,” said Shivani Jain, president of All Schools Parents’ Association (ASPA), Ghaziabad.

The parents also decided to hold protests in their respective district headquarters on February 3 and file RTIs. They will also launch campaigns to spread awareness among other parents. It was also decided to take cues from parents who had gained some ground in their fight against private schools and felicitate them to encourage others.

“We conducted a signature campaign and plan to send appeal letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We are all set to hold a protest at the District Collectorate on February 3,” confirmed Jain.
