Indirapuram: 4-year-old dies after falling off 10-floor balcony

A 4-year-old girl lost her life yesterday evening by falling off the balcony of her 10th-floor flat in Jaipuria Sunrise Greens. According to AOA members, the incident happened around 5.45 pm, when Mayra, daughter of Manish Sachdeva, was looking down from the balcony.

A family of four, the Sachdevas have been living in their rented apartment in F 1001 for the past four months. “At the time of the incident, Mayra was alone in the flat. While her father was in office, her mother had stepped out for some personal errands, leaving the 4-year-old in the care of her elder sister. After a while, Mayra’s sister, too, left for her tuition classes. Mayra was asleep then. But after she woke up, she must have gone to the balcony. There was a chair kept there. She must have climbed on it and leant forward to look down. She slipped and fell,” said Ravindra Saini, president of the society’s AOA.

The police are treating this as an accident. Officials of the Indirapuram police station said that the girl was rushed to the nearby Shanti Gopal Hospital, where she was declared dead before arrival.

Mayra's family members could not be contacted.
