Parents to protest over delay in UP fee bill

To express their resentment of the delay in implementation of the UP Fee Regulatory Bill, parents from various schools in Ghaziabad have decided to take out a protest march this weekend. The march is set to take place on Saturday, and will be led by members of All School Parents Association (ASPA), along with other social organisations of the city.

Speaking to City Spidey, Sachin Soni, general secretary of ASPA, said, “Delay in putting the Bill to action means more harassment for parents. The schools still charge annual and development charges; they still try to coerce money from parents. We also did not get to know the contents of the magisterial report prepared over the issue.”

Parents further said that recently there have been incidents where private schools seemed to have failed students, and were reluctant in showing the answer scripts. “We are also going to highlight this issue,” Soni added.

The protest march will start at Gandhi Park in Lohia Nagar at 10 am and will end at the District Collectorate.

The Uttar Pradesh department of secondary education had released a draft copy of the fee regulatory bill on December 8 last year. The draft Bill left a lot of parents unhappy, as parents said it gave undue power to private schools for collecting charges from parents.
