A woman was killed and her son critically injured after an illegal hoarding fell on them due to the thunderstorm which hit Delhi-NCR on Sunday evening. The incident took place in Bisrakh area of Greater Noida. Police said the deceased has been identified as Zebunissa, who was travelling with her son, Imran on a bike.
Locals rushed the two to a nearby hospital where Zebunissa was declared brought dead while Imran is undergoing treatment, police said.
“We have informed the family members of the deceased while we have not yet received any complaint from the family,” said a senior police official of Bisrakh police station.
The thunderstorm had brought dust and rainfall along with it and winds were blowing at a rapid pace. As a result, people who were commuting had to face a lot of problems.
Various trees were also uprooted due to the storm and metro services were disrupted.
