Ecogreen's waste management falters again; evokes official response

Trilok Gupta of Gandhi Nagar area in Ward 22, Gurgaon, had on July 3 raised the issue of poor door-to-door waste collection service in the area. Taking cognizance of the complaint after over a month, the directorate of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) in Panchkula directed MCG commissioner to take remedial action.

Similar complaints about irregular waste collection have also been made by residents in DLF I, Sectors 27, 28 and 29.

The directorate shot a letter on August 6, signed by a sub-divisional engineer. It states: “You are requested to take action in this regard and send report to the directorate.”

MCG joint commissioner Vivek Kalia had forwarded Gupta’s complaint to the ULB.

Gupta’s complaint read: “I tried calling on Ecogreen’s toll-free number before writing to the authorities, but it didn’t do the trick. The day I complained, they sent a truck to collect waste from my area, but since then collection has again become irregular.”

Ecogreen is MCG’s concessionaire for waste management in the city.

Last week, Ward 34 councillor SS Rathee issued a note to the media, highlighting negligence in door-to-door collection of garbage in the locality.

Ecogreen CEO Ankit Aggarwal had earlier responded to Rathee’s allegations, saying that no complaints had been received by the company.
