It is election time and Indirapuram-based Federation of Apartments Owners' Association (FedAOA) is all geared up to assist the district administration of Ghaziabad in maximising voter turnout from the city in upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The federation has planned to set up cubicle selfie points in malls and shopping complexes across Indirapuram to attract the residents.

Alok Kumar, president of the FedAOA, told City Spidey the properties are being set up under the initiative called 'Vote ka Josh' in order to promote the whole idea of voting in general elections.

"As we have so many young and new voters this year, the idea is to spread awareness about voting through means which will attract them the most," Kumar added.

Presently, the FedAOA has installed a selfie cubicle point at Indirapuram Habitat Centre.

The FedAOA chief informed that federation would set up such selfie cubicles at Shipra Mall, Aditya Mall and Jaipuriya Mall in the upcoming days.

"Through these (selfie cubicles), we are urging the residents to click the selfie and post it on their social media accounts. It would spread a message about the importance of exercising the right to vote and participating in the biggest festival of democracy," Kumar stated.

Apart from this, a cultural evening will be organised on April 7 jointly by the FedAOA and the district administration under the Election Commission of India's SVEEP awareness programme.

It would be an awareness cum fun-filled entertaining event, comprising puppet, magic show and music performance. The organisers have also roped in 'Indian Idol' fame vocalist Abhijeet Sawant to perform in the said event.

Besides, Ritu Maheshwari, the district magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad, would also attend the cultural event.

The first phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections would be held on April 11 and residents across Ghaziabad would vote on this day. According to the data issued by the Election Commission of India, over 28000 first time voters would vote in this election across the city.
