International Day of Yoga, or commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on June 21 since its inception in 2015.

Residents of Dwarka all geared up to celebrate 'International Yoga Day'

Ahead of International Yoga Day, several programmes are being organised in various sectors of the sub-city as maximum participation of people is expected to mark the occasion. A team of experts from Patanjali Yoga, Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan, Shivananda Yoga, social organisations and RWAs will conduct camps in the parks and within society premises.

A mega yoga event, organised by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), will be held at Sector 11's district park. Similarly, a huge community yoga programme will take place near Peepal Apartments (Sector 17).

Dwarka Hello Moms, an NGO, has planned a yoga camp especially for women at DDA park, located in Sector 22. Patanjali Yoga teacher Manmohan Gupta will be conducting the session.

Talking to City Spidey, Gupta said, "We have been preparing over a month for this day. During the training, I took free yoga classes so that maximum number of people of this area can participate in this mega occasion."

Besides regular classes, free yoga learning camps are being organised in Sector 6, 10, 12, and 23 to make it a successful initiative across Dwarka.

In this regard, Rakesh Mehra, expert and founder of Yoga Seed, is attracting kids and youths with an interesting concept called 'Swift Yoga'.  He has decided to showcase this 15-minute session on June 21 (Friday).

"I will take a session at Sector 10 park. Being unique and interesting, I hope this yoga concept will benefit all, especially youngsters," Mehra said.

Residents' Welfare Association (RWAs) too, are geared up to attend yoga sessions to promote it among the people across the area.

Sangeeta Kashyap, resident of Ganpati Apartment (Sector 9) concluded, "Though we will celebrate Yoga Day at our society's community hall on June 29, children and other yoga enthusiasts would perform tomorrow."
