Gurugram District Administration will soon launch an enforcement drive to seal the illegal borewells in the region.
The decision was taken during a meeting convened on Wednesday, with an implement the Jal Shakti Abhiyaan effectively. The meeting was headed by Gurgugram Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri, who expressed his concern over the depleting groundwater reserves.
He said that a team of officials will be formed for each zone which will be authorised to seal the illegal borewells in their jurisdiction. At the end of the drive, each team will submit their status report of their assigned regions.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, HUDA, Hydrologist Ground Water.
