Raj Nagar Extn: Garbage dump force Charms Castle residents keep balconies shut

Sanjay Tiwari, a resident of Charms Castle, a highrise in Raj Nagar Extension, has stopped hanging out in his balcony. Not just that, even on a lovely day he keeps his balcony closed. The reason is open land in front of his balcony, where mounds of garbage are dumped every day.

Tiwari complained, "When the wind blows, it carries all the dirt in my flat. During monsoon, the dump emanates stench. The whole environment becomes awfully disgusting, therefore, I've stopped accessing my balcony," said Tiwari.

He further added, "I didn’t pay lakhs of my hard-earned money for this view!”

The story is similar for the other 92 flats in tower A and B of the society. The ground is just next to the boundary of the society and is filled with trash. However, the residents blamed the maintenance staff of the condition. “The waste comes from the under-construction part of the society,” alleged Bhuri Singh, another resident of the society.

The society has overall 10 towers sanction, of which, 5 has been constructed and the other five is under-construction.

While the residents claimed to have suffered from this issue for quite a long time, surprisingly, they still did not raise the matter with the maintenance management of the society. “We discussed the issue with them, but we have not registered any formal complaint to the maintenance management,” Tiwari said.

The maintenance management of the society also said that they did not receive any complaint in the issue.

CitySpidey approached Vinay Shishodia AGM, of Sales and Marketing of the Charms Castle project and he said that the land where the garbage is being dumped belongs to the municipality and the developer has no ownership on that land. Meanwhile, he also dismissed the possibility of dumping construction material at the spot. “Currently, we are doing concrete and framework. It discharges minimal waste which we dump in the dustbins kept inside the society,” Shishodia said.

“However, the matter has come to my knowledge now. I’ll look into it, and do the needful,” Shishodia assured.
