During the inspection, the societies were found not complying with the Solid Waste Management Rules (SWM) 2016.

Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 each on three societies in DLF phase-5 for not managing their own waste.

An inspection was conducted by the team of MCG officials at Princeton Estate, Carlton Estate and Trinity Towers on Wednesday. During the inspection, these societies were found not complying with the Solid Waste Management Rules (SWM) 2016. The MCG team imposed a penalty of Rs. 25000 on each society. They have also given guidelines to the estate managers of the societies to comply with the rules.

MCG Commissioner Amit Khatri has said that those who generate 50 kg or more of waste daily are considered as bulk waste generators under Solid Waste Management Rules 2016. Those bulk waste generators who do not do comply with the rules will be penalised as per the law.

As per the directives under the Solid Waste Management 2016, bulk generators have to set up composting units in their premises for the treatment of waste at the source level.

He further informed that the MCG have empanelled an agency to provide assistance, equipments and other technical support to bulk waste generators to manage waste in their own premises.
