Residents of several highrises in Greater Noida were drenched in a festive mood on Wednesday as they carried out a grand Ganesh Visarjan procession (Idol immersion). Also known as ‘Vinayaka Chaturthi,' the festival marks the birth of the elephant god, Lord Ganesha.

During this period, families celebrating the festivity welcome the small idols of Lord Ganesha at their premises and massive idols are installed at elaborated pandals installed in various community centers. These idols are worshipped for a period of 1, 5, 7 or 10 days. The Ganesh Visarjan is followed by the Prashad Vitran.
