Gurugram: Festive fervour grips Vatika City residents

Residents of Vatika City, a society in Sector 49, kick started the five-day celebration of Durga Puja with great festive fervour.

The first day of the celebration commenced with dandiya night which totally absorbed the residents in festivity. With vibrant ghagharas and cholis, Vatikans played dandiya to mark the beginning of festivity.

Women were dressed in traditional costumes and jewellery creating a vibrant ambience. The craze for dandiya night was unfathomable with everyone participating with full zest and zeal.

The dancing troop was led by Sheena Bakshi, a member of recreation and culture committee, who was preparing for the event for the past one month.

The event was organised by RWA and the Recreation and Culture committee.  “This was the best dandiya night so far in Vatika city when everyone was seen swinging and dancing to the folk beats in gay abandon. Be it children or adults, men or women or even senior citizens, all enjoyed shaking a leg,” said Nirupama, chairperson of the committee.

Around 700 people assembled for dandiya night which would go on till 8th October. A plethora of activities will be organised every evening for five days to keep up the festive spirit. Various cultural programmes, competitions for children will also be carried out during the celebration.

“There will be cultural programmes every evening which will showcase local talent. Children will perform dance, drama and songs. The celebration will end with Idol immersion on Dashmi morning and Ravan Dahan in the evening,” Singh informed.
