Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday flagged off 104 standard-floor buses for public use.

It was the second lot of total of 1,000 standard-floor buses which is to be delivered for public use in the national capital.

Earlier, CM had flagged off 25 standard-floor buses. The buses feature modern technology, including CCTV cameras, panic buttons for women's safety and hydraulic lifts for differently-abled passengers.

Kejriwal said, “I want to congratulate the people of Delhi on the arrival of 104 new buses on the roads of the city. It is a huge step towards providing convenience to the people and will strengthen Delhi’s public transport.”

“On one hand, new buses will be running on the roads of Delhi, and on the other hand, women will be able to access free bus rides starting from the occasion of Bhai Dooj on October 29. The Delhi government will also deploy bus marshalls within the next week to ensure the safety and security of women in Delhi buses,” he said.

The buses are also equipped with GPS and anti-vandalism seats.

Moreover, there are also plans to flag off 1,000 low-floor AC buses in the national capital. These buses will be suitable for boarding of differently-abled persons, elderly persons, children and women.

First lot of these buses will be flagged off in January, 2020.

The government has also plan to launch 1,000 electric buses in different phases.
