East Delhi Municipal Corporation has intensified its effort to curb pollution in the area. It is taking all possible measures like sprinkling of water, mechanical road sweeping, encroachment and garbage removal and intstallation of air monitoring kiosks to check air pollution.
These steps are being taken on a regular basis at Anand Vihar and Vivek Vihar areas.
EDMC Commissioner, Dr Dilraj Kaur said the pollution worsens during winter. She said, “EDMC has recently added world class water sprinklers, litter pickers and mechanical sweepers in its fleet. These machines have been roped in to fight pollution.”
The Commissioner further said that they are focussing on pollution hotspots falling under its jurisdiction.
“We have intensified patrolling to check open burning of garbage, illegal construction waste dumping and other illegal activities. EDMC is taking strict action against the violators,” she said.
On this occasion, EDMC Commissioner, Dr Dilraj Kaur, Additional Commissioner, Vijay Vidhuri, Chief Engineer, Pradeep Khandelwal and Deputy Commissioner, Arti Sharma and other senior officers of corporation and Delhi Police were present.
