RWA and AOA members to act as booth level volunteers for next state elections

Members of RWAs and AOAs will be acting as Booth Level Volunteers (BLVs) for the state assembly elections next year. As BLVs, they will be verifying and collecting electoral forms such as Form 6* and Form 8** from their allocated zones. The BLVs will then submit the forms to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs), or tehsildars.

The decision was taken at a meeting between the RWA Federation Ghaziabad and the Chief Election Commissioner of India. The latter directed the Electoral Officer (UP) and the District Magistrate of Ghaziabad to consider members of RWAs and AOAs as BLVs for better management at the grass-roots level.

TP Tyagi, president of RWA Federation Ghaziabad, told City Spidey that BLVs will also be verifying the authenticity of voters in their area and amending the voter list as deemed necessary. The list will be further screened by the District Electoral Officer (DEO).

1. One supervisor will be nominated for each of the six zones of Ghaziabad — Indirapuram, Vijay Nagar, Mohan Nagar, Kavi Nagar, Vasundhara and City Zone.
2. Federation will nominate BLVs from high-rise societies and row houses, who will further coordinate with the zonal supervisors.
3. Soft and hard copies of the voter lists will be provided to the RWA Federation Ghaziabad.
4. Daily registration camps will be set up in societies on the recommendation of supervisors and BLVs till October 15.

*Form 6 of the Election Commission of India is required in case of fresh applications for inclusion of name in electoral roll.

**Form 8 of the Election Commission of India is used for any correction to details already entered in the existing electoral roll.
