With the arrival of the monsoons in the city, East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has issued guidelines to RWAs and co-operative group housing societies (CGHS) on how to deal with various issues typical of the season.

Guidelines were issued in the wake of a sharp increase in reported cases of dengue and malaria in the past two weeks.

Resident bodies have been asked to ensure that debris is removed immediately after construction work is over.

To deal with waterlogging, EDMC has also set up a helpline for residents. They can call at 155303.

“Seven special teams have been formed to manage waterlogging in residential societies,” confirmed Vipin Singh, EDMC deputy mayor.

Apart from the waterlogging, residents can also call to report uprooted trees or other exigencies.

Talking to City Spidey, EDMC mayor Neema Bhagat said, “Our control room has been equipped with portable pumps and other equipment. The special teams will be ready for prompt response. Departments such as civil, electrical, building, service and horticulture have been put on alert.”

Bhagat added, “Citizens can contact the municipal body at any point, and the department will send assistance as fast as possible.”

Besides the helpline, residents can share information on the following numbers: 11-22822700, 22821484, 22831946, 22831947, 011-22303700, 22300175, 22300171.
