Delhi: The national capital region is again reeling under air pollution with air quality slipping to ‘severe’ category. With this, many people have started complaining about eye problems.
As per doctors, eye itching can lead to eye infection if not taken care properly. Dust particles which settle at the lowest layer of atmosphere is becoming a threat to eyes.
At the start, people feel itching in eye. Then, it converts into eye infection. Watery eyes are the main symptom of eye infection.
Ex Head of Department (ENT Department) of Guru Teg Bahadur Singh Hospital at Dilshad Garden, Dr PP Singh said, “Eye infection due to air pollution can become severe. First of all, one should properly clean eyes with clean water and refrain form rubbing eyes while being outside.”
“We are seeing big influx of patients with eye infection. Pollution related eye problems can extend up to five or three days. One should use proper eye glasses to avoid any such infection,” he said.
“Eye infection can be detected at earlier stage. If you feel difficulty in opening eyes in morning and water in the eyes then consult doctor immediately,” he added.
