CM Kejriwal refutes claims of bad water quality in Delhi

Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday refuted claims of bad water quality in Delhi. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan in a report said that Delhi’s water is unsafe.

Kejriwal said, “On September 26, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat had compared the Delhi’s water quality to European standards. He said that water quality in Delhi is better than European standards. He had collected samples from 20 locations to come to this conclusion.”

He further said, “Shekhawat had termed the opinion of Paswan as his personal opinion. BJP’s Manoj Tiwari had also agreed to Shekhawat’s claims.”

“Paswan’s statement was reportedly based on samples from 11 places. From just 11 samples, a city’s water quality can’t be declared as good or bad. We also didn’t get any answer when we requested for the details of the places in Delhi from where the samples were collected,” CM Kejriwal asked.

“Was there anything to be hidden? As per the WHO standards, there should be one sample collected for every 10000 people in cities. There should have been 2000 samples taken in Delhi. Now, which Minister is correct - The Union Jal Shakti Minister or Ram Vilas Paswan or Manoj Tiwari?” he said.
