Golf Avenue-2 protesters want cops to act against developer

Residents of Golf Avenue-2, a high rise in Sector 49, Noida, on Sunday staged a protest demonstration at Sector 49 Police Station demanding action against the developer, who, they allege is resorting to strong arm tactics to fleece them in the name of maintenance charges.  They say he is forcing them to pay up for what they have already paid.

They complain that the maintenance workers deployed by the developer disconnected power supply to several households of the society in past one week causing immense inconvenience to them.

The reason behind the frequent disruption of power supply, they say is greed of the developer. According to them, the developer wants to extract money from them in the name of common area maintenance charge even though they have already paid him while taking possession of homes.

A resident claimed that the developer gave them possession of homes only after each and every resident paid him the maintenance fees for two years in advance. But, the developer is using intimidatory tactics force them pay up for what they have paid in advance.

He said, ''Power supply of three homes was snapped by maintenance staff a day before yesterday. Earlier too, they had resorted to power cut. Following this, they approached the local police to intervene in the matter as the developer's men were forcing residents to repay.''

The residents said that there is a clear-cut order from city (Noida) magistrate that says deduction of maintenance charge from pre-paid meter is illegal. But, the developer has continuously been subtracting the amount from the prepaid meter in violation to the order.

The residents said that they have been demanding that the police intervened in the matter and ensured that they are not forced to repay and their balance is not deducted from the prepaid meter.
