New Delhi: All the former presidents of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union came together against the unprecented fee hike. The alumni will conduct a day-long protest on November 27.

They were of the view that JNU administration has unilaterally hiked the fees. They were miffed with the hike which was done without any consultation with the elected representatives of students.

Former student and now working as professor at JNU, Surjeet Majumdar said, “Rising cost of higher education will hamper our aim to become an educated country. We always stand against undemocratic decision taken by administration or government. But since last many years, we have seen that students' rights have been demolished.”

He said that they protect democracy as it gives them right to oppose. “Now all the alumnae are in support of students association. Alumni association has put four major demands for the student welfare.”
