Commissioner of the Delhi Police, Amulya Patnaik, on Sunday inaugurated a public felicitation kiosk and a community policing vehicle in Dwarka to strengthen policing in the area.
Community policing is a novel concept where the police and the community work in close coordination to maintain law and order in a locality.
In his address to a gathering of RWAs, social activists and the senior police officials, the police commissioner said, “Dwarka is known for its innovative initiatives for community policing. The community felicitation kiosk is another feather in the cap of the sub city. The kiosk will help the people at large in organising community events.”
He said that such initiatives would go a long way in empowering the community to play a major role in the development of the city as a model city.
“Such initiatives will help in developing Dwarka as model city. Here, many community policing initiatives were taken in the past and are running successfully. These two new initiatives would make the community feel more empowered, and close to policing.”
The two initiatives are expected to provide several facilities like making the people aware about the schemes of the Delhi Police, providing facilities for tenant and servant verification, taking FIR printout from the kiosk etc. The community policing vehicle would foam in the area meeting people, spreading awareness and building relationship with the police and public.
