Raj Nagar Extension: In a crackdown on illegal construction, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) sealed 64 flats of Raj Residency, a residential condominium at Raj Nagar Extension (RNE), on Saturday. They took the action citing violation of construction rules by the builder .
As per the rules, the builder could have additional floor area ration (FAR) if he/she agreed to construct flats for economically weaker section (EWS) in the project. However, the developer violated this condition and instead built illegal flats on the extended FAR, hence, the sealings in towers C and D of the society.
The officer on Special Duty at the GDA, Sanjay Kumar, said that the authority had provided additional FAR to the developer on a condition to build EWS flats at two towers from 12th to 14th floor. "The developer did not build a single flat for the EWS section, instead, extended its own residential units. After finding this, we sealed 64 flats,” Kumar added.
With this, other housing societies too have come under GDA's radar. Following the violation at Raj Residency, the GDA has started inspection of other housing projects in RNE. The authority will carry out an inspection at those projects where additional FAR has been provided.
