Residents, especially those who visit of Meghdutam Park regularly, a lush green park surrounded by over 18 high rises in Sector 50, are up in arms against setting up of musical fountain and laser-show in it.
They fear these facilities would disturb the ecology of the park that took many years to shape up naturally after it was developed almost a decade ago in 2008.
The Noida Industrial Development Authority recently floated e-tender inviting agencies (bidders) for setting up the aforementioned facilities in the park to attract tourists.
According to Sanjeev Kumar, secretary of Sector 51 RWA, it’s a beautiful and well-maintained park with naturally developed ecology and design that lure visitors from many nearby sectors. It also inhabited by a variety of bird species and reptiles. ''But the authority plans to install laser lights to conduct cultural and historical shows in the park that may disturb ecology of the park,'' he added.
The residents have also threatened to intensify their protest if the authority does not cancel the decision in deference to the wishes of the people.
