Gurugram: With a focus on preventing crime in the city, the DLF Foundation provided three Mahindra Scorpio cars to Gurugram Police to ensure them well equipped to maintaining law and order in the millennium city.
Dr Vinay Sahni, CEO of the DLF Foundation, handed over the vehicles to Muhammad Akil, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, in the presence of senior officials and other dignitaries.
On the occasion, Muhammad Akil, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram said, “We are happy and thankful to the DLF Foundation which has provided these vehicles to the Gurugram Police.”
The cars are modified and mounted with light machine gun (LMG) in which trained commandos would be deployed. Gurugram being a corporate hub with overwhelming working population, he said it was their basic responsibility to safeguard the people.
He termed it “just a beginning to ensure next-level security”.
Of the three cars, two are going to be deployed at Cyber hub while one at Golf Course Road.
The Scorpio QRT vehicles have been specially modified by M/s Mahindra Defence systems with a provision to mount LMG on the roof with a hydraulic cupola which enables the weapon holder to engage 360 degrees with firepower while the vehicle is moving. The vehicle is also fitted with interceptor and fog light for ease of functioning in all adverse conditions.
The induction of these vehicles would ensure better law and order situations in the city. The vehicles would be used for patrolling and surveillance in the city especially to help women in distress and taking early preventive actions.
While expressing foundation's commitment towards strengthening the safety and security in the city, Dr Vinay Sahni, CEO, DLF Foundation said, “With an attempt to contribute to strengthening safety and security in the city, the DLF Foundation has extended its support to the Gurugram Police.
