Shipra Neo residents to approach GDA over lift malfunctioning

Ghaziabad: Residents of Shipra Neo, a high-rise in Indirapuram, have decided to take up the issue of malfunctioning of lifts in the society with the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Monday next. The residents have been facing a harrowing time due to the sorry state of the elevators.

The Apartment Owners Association (AOA) of the society will meet officials of the GDA on Monday to explain the daily ordeal the residents face due to breakdown of lifts.

The society has three blocks in which at least 300 families live. It has nine lifts in total, three in each block. However, Rohit Gupta, president of the AOA, informed that on an average, only five of them are functional on a daily basis. "We are facing this issue since last six months. We complained many times to the facility management but they never paid heed to this problem,” he said.

Gupta also said that in the last six months, accidents related to the lifts have also increased. Just a few days ago, all the lifts in the society stopped working due to which an eight-month pregnant woman, who was on her way from a doctor, had to wait for an hour before entering her flat. Such incidents have angered the residents.

Last Tuesday, the residents had called the police which forced the management to start one lift in a hurry.

The management promised repair of the lifts by Monday. However, seeing no improvement in the functioning of the lifts after the deadline, the AOA decided to take up the matter with the GDA.
