Mammoth rally to demand basic amenities for Mayur Vihar phase III
New Delhi: Mayur Vihar Phase 3, Vasundhra Enclave and its surrounding areas witnessed a historic peaceful 'Maha' rally. The rally was organised in support of the demands for development of the area, metro connectivity and Barapullah Extension among others.
More than 9,000 people took part in the rally with a minimum of 6,000 participants covering a distance of 4.5 km at a time. The longest distance of the rally was around 1.5 km or more.
The rally evoked overwhelming support in all the areas it passed through. It was welcomed by bystanders and locals who encouraged and served them with water and refreshment. Police personnel were monitoring traffic movement along the route of the rally.
Two teams of doctors were ready for any eventuality during the rally.
It took the rally as an opportunity to raise their demands like fresh air, clean water, metro connectivity, Barapullah extension etc. They shouted slogans untiringly throughout the rally.
People joined the rally irrespective of political affiliations. All the present, past councillors and dignitaries from all walks of life took part in the rally.
The rally finally reached its destination at Ramlila Ground, Vasundhra Enclave where the protesters were welcomed by JP Sharma, president of Joint Forum of Residents of Vasundhra Enclave.
All the three councillors of ward 5, 6 and 7 assured them of all possible help towards development as per our demands.
Vinod K Nair updated the gathering about the action taken so far by united forum. He called it a beginning and said the struggle will continue till all their demands are met.
The rally commenced at 3.15 pm from Pocket B6 chowk and culminated at Vasundhara Enclave after covering Pocket B6 ground, Life Care A3 Road, BOB Chowk, Labour Chowk, A2 Gurdwara Road, SFS/NMIG Chowk, Bharat Pump Road between A1 towards Red Fox, MIG Complex Pocket 6, Pocket 5 Road, SFS Pocket A Chowk and New Kondli Market PWD Road.
