Gurugram: GMCBL to sanitise buses to contain coronavirus

Gurugram: In wake of coronavirus outbreak, the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) has decided to sanitise the buses in the city to prevent the spread of the disease.

The Haryana government declared the disease as epidemic on Thursday and invoked necessary section of Epidemic Act, 1897 to combat COVID-19.

The GMCBL has alerted its staff to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus and directed them to disinfect the city buses on regular basis. As per the GMCBL, this move is in the interest of the passengers and staff deployed in the buses.

On Thursday, buses at the depot were being cleaned and sprayed with disinfectant spray so that infection does not spread in any way.The GMCBL has also put emphasis on cleaning and sanitising locations like hand railings, handles, doors, windows where hands come in direct contact during the travel. It has also issued advisories to create awareness among the commuters about the symptoms, transmission and precautions to be taken to protect from the disease.

As many as 154 buses on 18 routes operate in the city and many people travel in these buses on daily basis. The GMCBL will clean and disinfect all these buses at the depots in Sector 10 and Sector 53.
