Gurugram: The Haryana government on Friday announced the closure of all colleges, schools and universities till March 31 to contain the spread of the novel coranavirus. 

A circular issued by the Director General Higher Education states, "State Government has decided that all universities and colleges situated in the Haryana State will remain closed till 31 March, 2020 as a precautionary measure."

Similarly, school education department of the Haryana government also issued a circular which stated that all private and government schools will remain closed till March 31 in Sonepat, Jhajjar, Rohtak, Faridabad and Gurugram districts. 

"The students will attend the school only to take Board Exams, Annual Exams, Assessment Exams, March 2020 as per previous schedule. However, all teaching and non teaching staff will attend the school as usual," the circular stated. 

Schools in other districts will function as usual, the circular stated.

The state government declared COVID-19 an epidemic on Thursday. As many as 1754 people are under observation in the state, of which 1730 people with a history of visiting corona-affected countries are asymptomatic. 

In Gurugram district, 730 suspected cases with travel history of China are under observation, while 726 asymptomatic persons are under home isolation. So far, four persons showing symptoms have been hospitalised, while three have been discharged. Till date, ten samples have been sent, of which seven have been tested negative, while the results of three is awaited.
