Vastu for wealth: Stick a swanky car poster, grow money plants, whatever

According to the principles of Vastu Shastra, if you please Kuber, the God of Wealth, and get his blessings, you can improve your financial well-being. To increase your financial position, the following tips can prove to be of great help:

1. Get rid of the clutter

Clutter is said to exacerbate stress and tension in the family. This is especially true for the bedroom. Make sure places inside the cupboard and under the bed are clutter-free. Some people have a habit of piling up things from the past. This only stops you from accepting your present and welcoming the future.

2. Include the water element in your home

Water is the key feng shui element that attracts well-being and prosperity. Keep the water free-flowing and without any restriction as much as possible. A water fountain can be placed in the north-east — just ensure that the water is kept moving, as it denotes the flow of positive energy and wealth. A fish aquarium can also be kept in the north-east of the living room. Always keep it clean and aerated. Put pictures of water fountains, rivers or the sea in the house, which depicts an abundance of water.

3. Add plants

Put vases with coloured flowers, such as red or purple ones, in the wealth areas of your house. Keep a money plant in a green vase, or hang a scenery showing a lush field or thick forest in the north zone. These will attract money and better career opportunities.

4. Add pictures of affluence

To achieve your desires, add photographs of the things you want the most, say a new car or a plush house. Also add images that depict wealth and abundance.

5. Feng shui colours for prosperity

Feng shui techniques recommend colours such as red, green, gold and purple, which have a strong wealth affinity. Use them as wall colours in the wealth areas of your home.

6. Auspicious elements

Hang wind chimes from the ceiling, a big mirror in the dining room, hang crystal balls in the far left corner of the living room and coins attached with red ribbons. If you use coins, make sure to use them in combinations of 3, 6 or 8, which depict an inflow of money.

Other handy tips

  • The cupboard or safe for keeping cash and jewellery should be in the south or the south-west. It should open towards the north (the realm of Kuber), which will keep it replenished.
  • Never have a dripping faucet, as it is said to drain finances.
  • One of the famous methods to attract wealth is to place a mirror in front of your cash locker, so the mirror reflects the locker.
  • Keep the north-east part of the home clutter-free and open at all times. Avoid making staircases here. Never keep anything heavy, such as machinery, in the north-east corner.
  • Always make sure you keep the centre of the home free. Never make any construction (except a temple) in this part of the house, as this is the Brahmasthan.
  • Always keep all doors and windows clean. If they are dirty, money flow might get obstructed.
  • Decorate the entrance of your home distinctively to enable prosperity and wealth to find you easily. Also decorate your home's name and number plate. Keep this area brightly lit and coloured.
  • Make sure you feed water and grains to the birds in your yard. This attracts positive energy and wealth.
