 Noida: The man who was tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday here turned out to be an employee of HCL Technologies. The patient, a resident of Sector 41, has a history of travelling to Indonesia along with his wife.

The patient and his wife approached the authority 15 days after returning from Indonesia on March 3. He has been admitted to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Kasna on Tuesday night. Test reports of the wife are awaited. 

Confirming the report with regret, an HCL Technologies spokesperson, on Thursday, said that an employee from their Noida office has been tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus. He was in self-isolation after returning from international travel.

“The office,” he informed “is following all government and health advisory protocols. All prescribed protocols on sanitization and contact tracing have are being complied with. The employee is currently in an isolation ward and all measures are being taken to provide the best medical care to him and support to his family," he assured. 

The spokesperson added that all other employees are in good health and are being constantly monitored. "We have invoked our COVID-19 Contingency Plan which aims at maximising work from home in all geographies to aid social distancing. We have circulated a travel advisory across the company taking all precautionary measures and suspending all non-essential travel till further notice," he said.

Meanwhile, the HCL requested its employees to remain calm and follow the recommended guidelines for hygiene. 

However, the office has not been closed and no work from home has been announced as yet.

While the Noida administration is yet to take any step in closing down the BPOs, MNCs and IT companies that operate in the district, the Gurugram administration, on Wednesday, instructed all the companies to allow work from home for their employees.
