Gurugram: At a time when the coronavirus pandemic has caused turmoil in everyone’s life including the people living with anxiety, depression, and solitary, the residents of Gurgaon One, located in Sector 84, Gurugram, brought new perspectives among the community amid the crisis.
The residents of Gurgaon One organised a mobile photography contest recently, which aimed to encourage people to click beautiful photographs without stepping out of their society.
The activity was conducted between July 12 to 17, wherein all the participants captured exquisite landscape, building, flora, and fauna among other visual treats.
According to the organisers of the event, since most people are working from home these days and kids are also homebound, so to break the monotony, the event was conceived and organised to make the most of the time during the crisis.
Abhishek Swarnkar, one of the organisers said, “The idea behind the event was to involve people in recreational activity in these distressing times following all social distancing norms. Most of us are working from home and hence thought of conducting an activity for fun.”
The competition saw an overwhelming response from the residents and a total of 69 pictures were received during the event. The contest was judged by the three proficient judges from different fields including Nishant Kurup, Senior Business Head, E-commerce at Bajaj Finserv, Kaustav Roy Chowdhury, Banker, and Kalol Mahalanbis, Chief of Design at Titan Crushing Machinery limited.
Nishant Kurup, one of the judges said, “It was an innovative concept in line with social distancing during Covid crisis. I sincerely appreciate everyone who participated. The majority of the photographs were of top-notch quality, giving me a very tough time.”
The winner of the contest was Jayanta Guha, followed by Luv Malik and Richik Guha, who came second and third. 11 others were awarded the consolation prizes as well.
“All the winners were awarded shopping e-vouchers. The prizes were sent to the winners through email. Thus, following complete social distancing norms from beginning to the end of the event,” said Nainesh Shah.
“It had been an exciting event. Making locked in at home interesting with this innovative idea of competition. It also allowed me to know many like-minded friends in the society,” said Jayanta Guha, one of the winners.
“Photography has always been my latent hobby, but I never got the opportunity to explore it that much, I was elated when I got this opportunity to showcase my love for photography,” shared Richik.
With the success of this event, the organisers are planning to continue with this tradition and hope to make this event an annual affair.
