Noida: The route for connecting Aqua Line with Delhi Metro at Botanical Garden station has been finalised by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). It is expected to be completed by 2023.
It was a highly anticipated route by the commuters as they will be able to travel directly to Greater Noida.
The new route will be 11.5 km long and will branch out from Sector 142 station and run towards Botanical Garden. At Botanical Garden station, there will be an interchange with Blue and Magenta Lines.
The new line will significantly reduce the travel time between Greater Noida and Noida Expressway sectors and Delhi.
At present, the Aqua Line terminates at Sector 51 where commuters are required to get off the station and take a walk to the Blue Line.
The route will also help the commuters in travelling directly to the IGI Airport. The commuters will directly board the train from Greater Noida to reach the airport. They won’t be required to get off the station and take another train.
As there was no interface of Aqua Line with Delhi Metro, the ridership was quite low.
On the new route, apart from the Botanical Garden station, there will be other stations like Sector 94, Sector 125, Sector 126, Sector 97, Sector 127, Sector 98, Sector 93, Sector 91, Sector 136 and Sector 142.
