New Delhi: Delhi on Wednesday recorded the highest single-day coronavirus spike of 5,673 new cases, pushing the cumulative tally to 3,70,014, the health bulletin said.
The number of new cases reported came out of 60,571 tests conducted on the previous day. Of which, 17,284 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 43,287 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate has also increased in the last few days. The positivity rate jumped to 9.37 per cent.
40 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,396. 44 deaths were reported on Tuesday, 54 on Monday, 33 on Sunday, 36 on Saturday, 26 on Friday, 35 on Thursday and 47 on Wednesday.
4,128 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 3,34,240 in the national capital. The recovery rate declined to 90.33 per cent from 90.60 per cent on the previous day.
The new cases outnumbered the recoveries by a significant margin on Wednesday. It affected the active cases figure adversely. Active cases increased to 29,378 from 27,873 on the previous day. Among them, 16,822 are in home isolation.
Out of the total number of 15,765 beds in Covid hospitals, 10,100 are vacant.
