Coronavirus: Noida to collect random samples of commuters

Noida: To mitigate the spread of coronavirus, Noida and Greater Noida district administration has come up with a new initiative.

On Wednesday, it started collection of random samples of commuters heading towards the city of Noida from Delhi.

According to official sources with the administration, the initiative was started with a view of curbing the spread of the virus. The positive cases are on the rise in adjacent areas of Delhi and people commute between these cities daily.

To keep the situation under control, the administration has ordered for collection of random samples of commuters heading towards the city.

The traffic flow between Delhi and Noida would continue to be normal as it is at present. But random sampling would be conducted without any inconvenience to commuters. The official clarified that randomly selected commuters would only be tested for identifying positive cases.

“This is being done in order to assess the spread of infection and it would help in issuing advisories to employers and organisations, where a large number of people work and commute between Gautam Budh Nagar and adjacent areas,” the official said.
