RESIDENT SPEAK: Poor water quality impacts Supertech Capetown residents

Noida: The Supertech builder took 535 water connections in 2015 when it initially started giving possession of flats in Capetown society in Sector74, Noida.

Thereafter, it kept on giving possession of flats but didn’t increase water connections. Till December 2019, possessions of 4,419 flats were given in Capetown society. In the meantime, groundwater is extracted and supplied to the residents. TDS of water supplied in Capetown is around 2,000.

The AOA of Capetown had raised issue of poor water quality, lesser number of water connections and extraction of ground water before the Noida Authority. The AOA had multiple meetings with the officials of Noida Authority in the matter.

After multiple follow up by AOA of Capetown, Noida Authority issued challan for rest 3884 water connections. But the Supertech builder had not deposited money and obtained water connections even after one year of issuance of challans for water connections.

Groundwater is still being extracted. The TDS is still around 2,000. Such quality of water is being supplied to approximately 25,000 residents of the society. The poor quality of water is resulting in hair loss and other skin diseases among the residents of society.

The groundwater is being extracted by the builder without any approval and it is against the NGT rules. Potable water is fundamental right of citizens of India, which is being continuously denied for last 5 years.

In last one year, many more flats were given possessions. The Noida Authority issues orders but doesn’t implement its own order and builder doesn’t comply with any order of them, especially those which has financial implications. And, the ultimate sufferers are residents of the highrise societies of Noida.
