RESIDENT SPEAK: Authority should relook at decision to open food kiosks at parks

Noida: The Noida Authority’s decision to open food kiosks in parks does not seem to be in the interest of people. Rather, it only looks like commercialisation of facilities available in the city. It would bring along another challenge of maintaining hygiene and would require frequent cleanliness services.

It would create safety and security issues as anti-social elements are usually seen roaming freely in parks. They commit minor to major crimes with the visitors in the parks. In such a situation, there is no need to create such avenues where people would feel insecure.

Today, no one has time to visit such places unless it is a forced physical activity for health care reasons. If food kiosks have to be open, they can be opened at community centres or buildings' open spaces instead of green parks.

This makes the Forest Department more profitable as wear and tear of plants would be less.

The higher authority should reconsider before it goes ahead with the current decision. If required, parks can be converted into free food parks with more fruit bearing trees as being done abroad to kill hunger of homeless people.
