AQI deteriorates to "severe" category in Greater Noida, Ghaziabad

Greater Noida: The air quality index (AQI) deteriorated to ‘severe’ category at 404 and 418 in Greater Noida and Ghaziabad respectively on Wednesday. 

Three of the four monitoring stations in Ghaziabad recorded the AQI in ‘severe’ category. The AQI was recorded at 437 at Loni whereas it was 419 and 406 at Indirapuram and Vasundhara.

An officer from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) said that the wind speed is low and dispersion is affected. He said, “Now, the vehicular movement has normalised in the city and mercury has started dropping. It has impacted the pollution levels in the city.”

However, as per the forecast of India Meteorological Department, the NCR is likely to receive light rain on Friday and Saturday. 

Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in ‘very poor’ category with an overall AQI at 358 on Wednesday.
