It is said that age is just a number, and this Raebareli's Vijay Pal Singh is a proof! The old man sells Chana (Gram) to earn his living as he doesn't want to be a burden on his children.
The 98-year-old Singh has set up a Chana (Gram) shop in Raebareli. Seeing him selling gram at this age, the District Magistrate of Raebareli called him to his office and took his blessings after giving him monetary support and as well as benefits of government schemes.
Singh, a resident of Harchandpur, earns money by setting up a gram shop to feed himself. While Singh has two sons and both are earning a living with their families, he has set up a gram shop so that he can continue his own livelihood.
A video of Singh went viral video on social media which came to the notice of the Chief Minister's Office following which, District Magistrate Vaibhav Srivastava called him to his office with full respect.
In the office, Vaibhav Shrivastava immediately gave him Rs 11,000 in cash, a walking stick, shawl and a Patra Grahasti Ration Card. The old man does not set up a chana shop under any compulsion but because he wanted to remain self-reliant.
