New Delhi: Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman cricketer and second woman cricketer to score 10,000 international runs on Friday. She has completed 10,000 runs across all formats of the game. Playing her 212th ODI, she achieved the landmark during third match of bilateral series against South Africa.

In her 3rd Test and 1st against England in 2002, Raj played a scintillating knock of 214 runs and broke Karen Roton's record for the highest individual score in a Test match.

In 2003, “Tendulkar of women's cricket” was honored with the Arjuna award. Further, in 2004, she became the captain of Indian women's cricket team. Raj made her T20 debut in 2006 and has represented India in 89 matches, scoring 2,364 runs with an average of 37.52, which included 17 half centuries.

In 2008, Raj led India to its 4th successive Asia cup win. In 2013, she scored a century to chase 193 runs against Pakistan at Cuttack, where no team in the world had chased more than 105 runs.

In 2017, during the ODI World Cup, Raj broke the record of former England captain Charlotte Edwards to become the highest run scorer in ODIs and the first woman to score 6,000 runs in the format. She is the first woman to complete two decades in international cricket.

1. Mithali Raj completes 20 years in ODI cricket:

In 2019, she became the first woman to finish 20 years in cricket. Raj played her first ODI match in June, 1999 against Ireland.

2. First Indian Cricketer to score 2,000 runs in T20I:

The batswoman became the first Indian cricketer to score 2,000 runs in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) in 2018.

3. Mithali Raj, player with most International appearances in Women’s cricket:

During the 2nd ODI against South Africa on March 9, Raj broke the record for most international appearances in women’s cricket. She became the most capped female player in the history of international women’s cricket recording her 310th appearance.

4. First female cricketer to win the Wisden India Cricketer of the Year:

Raj was honoured with the Wisden India Cricketers of the Year for 2015. She became the first female cricketer to win the award.

5. First women to play 200 matches in ODI format :

Raj became the first female player to play 200 matches in ODI format (204) and broke the record of Charlotte Edwards (191).
