Ammi – The Last Letter: A poem silencing the silence

It's a letter, with a message to millions. A message to fight against the social stigma of rape

Ammi – The Last Letter: A poem silencing the silence

New Delhi: Ammi is not just another poem, it's about all that a daughter wanted to express to her mother.

The poem goes like this, “Ammi jab dant ti thi, kyu nahi bataya bhoot nahi, insano se daro; dushman nahi darindagi se lado.”

It's a letter with a message to millions. A message to fight against the social stigma 'rape'.

“Ammi mujhe ap abhla nah, kehna,
mujhe bechari nah kehna,
Mai nari hoon!
Ammi mai zindagi nahi, bass darindagi se hari hoon”

This poem is written and recited by Snigdha Banerjee. A young spoken word poet and an active social worker.
